Lovely Lucite

Kanye West and his lovely fiance Alexis Phifer, were recently out at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood party. Something about this look that I love on Miss Alexis. The lipstick? Not so much. Anyway, this budding fashion designer was rocking the biggest Lucite bangle I've ever seen. And surprise, surprise...I love it! Never be afraid to be different. Especially with jewelry. Thursday Tips: Healthy Skin

It's always great to take care of your skin from the outside, using cleansers and gently exfoliating daily. But, you must remember that good skin always starts from the inside. If you want an extra boost in your skin's healthy glow and clarity, then definitely drink your recommended amount of water during the day, get plenty of rest, give your skin at least 30 minutes of sunshine a day...and take your vitamins!

Vitamin A helps the production of healthy skin, teeth, hair, bones and a healthy immune system. The added vitamin D helps women especially, for the absorption of calcium, which we need. How can any of us afford not to take our vitamin A every day?

Flax seed Oil is another beauty secret that aids in healthy skin. Shh...don't tell anyone I told you. Of course, flax seed has its added benefits as well. Such as, heart health, digestive health and joint health.

Here are some extra healthy skin tips:

*Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser.
*Don't scrub your face because the skin is sensitive.
*Use a toner without alcohol (try Carol's Daughter toner).
*Moisturize even if you have oily skin! Just use a light-weight moisturizer with NO oil.
*Try to avoid touching your face through out the day, your hands carry many unknown germs. Always use clean hands to touch your face.
*Clean your face of all makeup before going to bed at night. The makeup can seep into your facial pores and cause break outs or excessive oil build up.
*Wash and condition your hair. It actually does affect your skin.

Stay beautiful ladies xoxoxo

Style Evolution: Alicia Keys

(click for full size photo)

In 1998 Alicia Keys signed to Clive Davis' J Record, and the rest is history. This brown bombshell has been singing songs to our souls ever since. She first captivated our ears with a unique voice over melodic piano keys on the song Fallen. Miss Keys was an instant favorite in so many hearts after that. We have all watched this young woman blossom in terms of talent, grace and of course style. I know you all remember her signature braids that she often paired with jeans of some sort. Through the years though, she's taken a mature turn towards straightened hair and romantic curls coupled with stunning dresses and gowns. Alicia Keys has grown so much in her sense of style that I'm even willing to forget this catastrophe...
She has definitely evolved as an artist and as a beautiful brown bombshell.

Watch Alicia's new video for "No One" right here...

Bag Flash

Today's bag flash is this beauty by Prada. The Glazed Calfskin Dome Bowler. It has beautiful gold toned hardware, a zip top, removable shoulder strap and buckle accents. What is there not to love about it? It's perfect for every day wear, and it's not extremely flashy, even though I love the flashy bags. We know I won't be dropping $2,570.00 on it though. It is nice to look at, and I'm sure its even nicer to tote around town with.
Check out the Dome Bowler at Bergdorf Goodman's.

Bombshell News

Rihanna covers Fashion Magazine...

Rihanna is in the process of working out a modeling deal, and it's much deserved. This girl is gorgeous, and should be on somebody's runway. The good girl gone bad has been either on the cover of, or inside of every magazine in the past 4 or 5 months. Can't be mad at her hustle. She refuses to let us forget about her.

House of Dereon Does kiddie clothes...

Why? I have no idea at all. Is the original clothing line even doing well in sales? Why are there so many off shoots of this line? I need answers! Oh, and I refuse to comment on the sea of white dolls around this beautiful child. I'm not touching that one...

Beyonce Goes Back To Black...

I'm ecstatic to see a change on this girl! I don't know if I'm feeling her choice of wig this time around though. The color is great, the hair? Not so much. But it is a step in the right direction. Change is good, change is great!
...and is that TyTy in the background? Jay-z's right hand man? Well we know who wasn't far away from his chick.

Stay beautiful ladies!

Flattering Fits

All women search for clothing that fits them perfectly, and flatters their shapes. There are a few cuts that will always flatter your best assets and hide the things you don't want to showcase. You should probably have at least one of each of these cuts in your wardrobe, if not more.

The empire waist has been around for so long that I'm sure many of you already know it's wonderful effect. If you don't, let me tell you. The empire waist is cut high, usually directly beneath your breasts. It allows the fabric to flow freely, hiding any problem areas and giving you an amazing slim look instantly.

1. Modal Surplice Tee; kiyonna.com, $43.00
2. Mesh Ruched Empire Tunic; bluefly.com, $75.00
3. Sweetheart Neck Tie Back; torrid.com, $34.00
4. Women's Turtle Neck Empire Dress; oldnavy.com, $12.99

Tunics come in many styles, they also come as tops and dresses. They're very free and normally come paired with an empire waist. Tunics are very comfortable and allow you to move freely, while still fitting you and showing your curves off. You can pair tunics with jeans, slacks, or belt them and wear it as a dress, granted it's long enough.

1. Deco Tunic; forever21.com, $19.80
2. Geometric Square Neck Tunic; lanebryant.com, $39.50
3. Balloon Sleeve Tunic; ardenb.com, $78.00
4. Pleated Neck Short Sleeve Tunic; torrid.com, $38.00

Wrap shirts and dresses flatter every figure from Miss Petite to Miss Full Figure. This wonderful style cinches the waist, gives off a bit of cleavage and hangs perfectly, hiding your problem areas. If you don't want to show as much cleavage as the dress/shirt does, then simply wear a light-weight camisole underneath. Don't want to show off your arms? Try a shrug if the sleeves are too short.

1. BCBG Floral Wrap Style Dress; macys.com, $146.00
2. Rayon Jersey Bubble Hem Top; bebe.com, $69.00
3. Women's Wrap Front Shirt; oldnavy.com, $24.50
4. Poet Sleeved Faux Wrap Dress; kiyonna.com, $38.00

Team Spirit!

Football season is upon us, and I know plenty of people who are already planning out the parties and festivities. I live in a place where everyone is BIG on football and the age old rivalry of the beloved Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. Well, I decided to do a post in honor of football season, because we women like to show our team spirit from time to time too. There's no reason at all that we can't look fashionable while doing so though. Just because it's time to parade a 'Skins victory over a Cowboy's fan head, doesn't mean you have to rock a stuffy track suit...or even worse, sweat pants. So check out these very fly ways to show your team spirit, while still turning heads.

I love these choices because their all very feminine without being bulky and or baggy. Remember ladies, when buying sports apparel, to buy it from the women's section so that it will be fitted to your body. Miss Full Figure, if they're not carrying your size in the women's department, then grab one of the smaller men's jerseys or t-shirts. Just make sure the fit is not baggy. You don't want to ever swim in your clothes, even if it is game night.

1. Women's Active Roster Tee; NFLshop.com, $45.99
2. Women's Cheer Jacket; Reebok, $64.99
3. NFL Water color Tee; Reebok, $14.99
4. Chris Cooley Glitter Jersey; NFLshop.com, $59.99
5. Double TIme Tank Top; fansedge.com, $34.99
6. Women's 4 in 1 Jacket; fansedge.com, $89.99

Normally, sports accessories are clunky and manly, but not these picks. They're really adorable and they allow you to show your team spirit while being a girl all at the same time. Check them out if you want to carry a little piece of your team with you always.

1. 14k Gold Pendant; redskins.com, $490.00
2. Ladies Stainless Steel Starlet Watch; footballfanatics.com, $89.95
3. Charm Bracelet; danburymint.com, $99.00
4. Velvet and Crystal Team Clutch; NFLshop.com, $69.99
5. Game Day Dazzler Watch; NFLshop.com, $39.99

Now, remember most of the sites listed here carry merchandise for all NFL teams. I chose to highlight the Redskins because I'm from Maryland/DC. The sites have just about the same exact style of clothing/accessory but with your favorite team's colors and name. Now go plan a football party and show your team spirit! Stay beautiful ladies.

Marc Jacobs 2008 Spring Line

The theme for Marc Jacobs September 10th show, seemed to be "sheer brilliance". Most of his pieces showed just a hint of what lied beneath. Sheer panelling used on dresses and sweaters makes this new line very interesting. My take on it? Hmm...I'll give it an 8 out of 10. Wonderful creativity, very daring, but a perfect way to be sexy without being trashy and showing it all. Well done Mr. Jacobs.

This is one of my faves from the show. To check out all of the pictures from the show, click here.

Baby Phat Spring Line 2008

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about Kimora's Baby Phat line. Maybe if it weren't for that damned cat all over EVERYTHING it would be okay. Just okay. I definitely don't love it though. I respect Kimora's hustle if anything. That chick will not stop. That's how everyone should be...just not with ridiculous logos smothering everything. Eh, I toss Baby Phat in the same pile with Roca Wear and Apple Bottoms. Next!
Anyway, check out these photos from Baby Phat's 2008 spring line.

Bag Flash

Unfortunately, I have to attend a funeral today :'( So I may not get to post a "real" post until tomorrow. In the mean time, check out this yummy bag that's definitely on my wish list!

Antonia Patent

"Black patent leather shoulder bag with gold hardware. Zac Posen bag has a strap on each side, a flap opening compartment on front, a zip fastening across top, a small pocket at base, gray suede lining, signature hexagonal detailing and comes with a gold tinted mirror. "

Yes, I love it! It's absolutely fabulous. The gold hardware gives it such a touch of class. As for the $1,200.00 price tag? Eh, not up my alley in the least...but a girl can dream cant she?
Stay beautiful ladies.

Thursday Tips: Effortless Beauty

What do Halle Berry, Joy Bryant and Nia Long have in common, besides the obvious career choice? All three of them have a wonderful glow about them. They can all pull off this naturally beautiful look with ease. I know they have the advantage of being absolutely gorgeous...but so do you! That's why I'm going to give you bombshells a few tips on how to snag this radiant look for yourself.

Okay, first lets determine which look you want to achieve. Joy Bryant's look is absolutely natural with as little makeup as possible, while Nia Long has a more glamorous natural look going, and Hall Berry is right in the middle. Not too glam and not too bare.

Let's start with the mommy-to-be, Halle Berry...

1.Start out with a basic concealer, don't be afraid of concealer. It's your friend, trust me. You'll want to dot the concealer under your eyes where there tends to be a dark shadow and or dark circles. Dab the concealer on any blemishes or pimples you may have as well. Next, blend it in to the skin gently.

2.Now get your cosmetic sponge, (I like the cheap wedges, their disposable) or foundation brush and dab just a little foundation under you eyes in the same fashion as the concealer, dot your cheeks, forehead, nose, chin, jawline, and lightly dab your eyelids as well. Putting a little foundation on your eyelids gives your eyeshadow something to grab on to.

3.Blend it into the skin well.

4.For Halle's perfect eyes, use a black eyeliner on the top lid only. Let's not outline the entire lid. Start from the middle of your eyelid, get as close to the lashes as possible and draw a straight line. No cat-like extension beyond the eye please.

5.Use a very sheer pearl shadow on your lids. A gold tone will work best for this look. Use an eyeshadow brush and apply the shadow to your lids up to the crease only. Swipe a bit of gold shadow on your lower lid as well for a slight highlight. Then top it off with a black water-proof mascara.

6.For nude lips simply pick a sheer nude lip gloss and apply it.

Next up is the lovely Miss Joy Bryant...

1.Joy's look is uber-simple. Start out with a tinted moisturizer, and apply it to your face just as you would any other moisturizer.

2.Apply a coat of black water-proof mascara to your lashes. Top and bottom.

3.Apply eyeshadow with an eyeshadow brush. Try a sheer pink, lilac or mauve.

4.Joy is wearing a very sheer blush. Try CoverGirl, Pretty Peach and apply it to the apples of your cheeks. Find your apples by smiling, the part of your cheek that rises, the one your grandma pinches? Those are your apples. Apply the blush very lightly and blend it in well.

5.Go for the nude lips and use a lip gloss instead of lipstick. You're done!

For the more glamorous natural look, go for Miss Nia.

1.Start out with concealer again. Just as you did for Halle's look. Dot under the eyes, on your blemishes and blend in with your fingers.

2.Use a light foundation (Maybelline has a line called Pure Makeup made with water) and apply it to your face just at you read for Halle's look. Also, extend the application to your neck, just where the shadow falls. Blend it in well.

3.Since Nia's look is more glam, you'll need to use a black eyeliner and line both your top and bottom lids. For the bottom, line the inside rim gently, while looking in a mirror, draw a line, following your lid's contour from the corner to the outter edge.

4.Apply a mauve or medium purple eyeshadow to your top lids. Apply the shadow to the crease and bring it up slightly above it so the shadow doesn't hide behind your lashes when you open your eyes.

5.Apply black, water-proof mascara to your top and bottom lashes.

6.Nia is also wearing a light blush. Pick out a sheer, neutral color and lightly dust the apples of your cheeks then blend it in gently with a brush. It may help to use a circular motion.

7.More nude lips. You know the deal. Pick a nude gloss and apply.

8.To get Nia's shimmery look, use a loose powder bronzer on your face last. To apply it, use the applicator that comes with the bronzer. Tap the brush/poof on the side of the jar, or into your hand and shake off any excess powder, then lightly dust your face, neck and any other exposed areas like the shoulders.

Now go out and stun the world with your natural glow and beautiful face! Stay beautiful ladies.
