Style File: Grammy's Edition

So, this post was originally going to be a best dressed post...but I honestly wasn't in love with anyone's choice of dress last night, so I'll just show you what all the lovely bombshells were wearing instead. I didn't really hate anyone's dress either, none of them struck me though. Such a disappointment.

Alicia rocked a deep blue Armani gown, and for some reason she chose that berry colored clutch. I can't say I hate her dress, but it's not my favorite.

Beyonce Knowles showed up rocking a fresh new hair-do, a shorter length and more of her trademark blonde. She wore a shimmery, Elie Saab dress. She looks great as far as hair and makeup go, but this dress didn't do it for me either. I can't decide if I like it or not. I thought it was her usual look, shimmery.

Rihanna disappointed me this time around. She's usually always put together so well, but this time someone dropped the ball when they put her in this blue Zac Posen dress. It does nothing for that amazing figure she has. I do like the shoes though, and her hair and makeup are both on point. Love the new hair cut.

Keyshia Cole rocked a new 'do on the carpet as well, shedding her signature platinum tresses for a much darker hue. Its either too light or too dark with her. This time she went a tad too dark for her skin tone, but I like the change. I'm not sure how I feel about her Mark Bauer dress though. Her makeup is on point, and the shoes are alright.

I love Corinne Bailey Rae, I think she's adorable and an amazing talent. I wasn't in love with her dress though. Big surprise right? I do like it more than I liked any of the other dresses I saw last night, but I hate her choice of shoes! I would have loved to see her in a pair of metallic silver heels to pick up the shimmer of the over-sized sequin flowers. Anyway, her hair and makeup both get thumbs up from me.

Fantaisia rocked a nice gown on the carpet, it flattered her shape nicely. She's one of the many who decided to go with a new 'do on the red carpet as well. I don't know what exactly inspired the new punk hair do, but after I've seen it a few times its started to grow on me. Go figure! I know I'm probably completely alone in that too, but its fine. I'm always for people marching to the beat of their own drum.

Lastly we have Toccara, a former America's Next Top Model contestant. She went with a slinky black dress that didn't do much for her new, thinner figure. It didn't look Grammy worthy at all either, but at least she wore it with a smile. The shoes are alright, as are her hair and makeup.

I think we saw somewhat of a trend on the red carpet last night at the Grammy's. The banded, sort of embellished waist seems to be a hit among stylists and artists alike. Be on the look out for an emerging trend ladies.

Best Dressed

The American Music Awards went down last night and these three ladies topped my best dressed list. Ashanti looked radiant in her soft yellow strapless dress, Beyonce was another showstopper in a very lovely gold, mermaid cut gown, while Miss Keys sparkled in her black shimmering dress with the plunging neckline. Bravo ladies! You all looked beautiful!

Janet Jackson Weight Loss/Weight Gain Book

Looks like Miss Jackson has some extra time on her hands. The icon plans to write about her journey through her weight losses and her weight gains. The book is untitled as of now.

"I’m writing a book on my journey of weight loss and weight gain," Jackson, 41, told PEOPLE. "[I'm] really coming from the soul with it, and what I was going through at different times in my life and what possibly brought it about for myself," she says of the yet untitled book. She'll also include in the book what she did "nutrition-wise" to slim down "when she needed to," but warns, "It's different for everyone."

Jennifer Lopez Is Preggers

It seems that Jenny from the block is indeed pregnant...we all can see her baby bump. But it seems that she and husband Marc Anthony may be pregnant with TWINS. She's been dodging the whole baby issue as of late and maybe this is why. She still has yet to confirm her pregnancy. Well if the former fly girl is pregnant, I wish her luck!

Someone Thought This Was A Good Idea...

I'm not too sure if these are actually Mattel Barbie and Ken dolls that are coming out in the likeness of Jay-z and Beyonce, or if someone just thought this was cute... Either way, looking at this leaves me a little on the disturbed side. Lets hope its just someone being funny. It is still entertaining though!

Bombshell News

Rihanna covers Fashion Magazine...

Rihanna is in the process of working out a modeling deal, and it's much deserved. This girl is gorgeous, and should be on somebody's runway. The good girl gone bad has been either on the cover of, or inside of every magazine in the past 4 or 5 months. Can't be mad at her hustle. She refuses to let us forget about her.

House of Dereon Does kiddie clothes...

Why? I have no idea at all. Is the original clothing line even doing well in sales? Why are there so many off shoots of this line? I need answers! Oh, and I refuse to comment on the sea of white dolls around this beautiful child. I'm not touching that one...

Beyonce Goes Back To Black...

I'm ecstatic to see a change on this girl! I don't know if I'm feeling her choice of wig this time around though. The color is great, the hair? Not so much. But it is a step in the right direction. Change is good, change is great!
...and is that TyTy in the background? Jay-z's right hand man? Well we know who wasn't far away from his chick.

Stay beautiful ladies!

Oh No Honey: Beyonce

Alright, it seems we have a special birthday edition of; Oh No Honey, featuring Miss Beyonce Knowles. Now I hate to give my fellow Virgo the side eye, but it's necessary if we're going to move past this atrocity right here. Beyonce is pictured below arriving at Macy's Herald Square, back in August. I'm not sure what the occasion was but don't you think it would have been kind for Mama Tina to tap her daughter and say: "Oh no honey" Well had I been Beyonce's mother, I would have tackled her behind Superbowl style to stop her from walking out of the house in this dress. The color, and the cut do absolutely nothing for her curvy frame. The big satin bow gives it a country-gone-wrong twist, and the pockets...don't get me started on the pockets! It makes the dress puff out horribly.
...and are those the marching band tights the baton twirlers rocked to keep their legs warm while they paraded around in glittery outfits? Girl stop.
Now before you Beyonce lovers try to kill me, I will say this: her make-up and hair are perfect. On point as usual. And I have nothing against her... But this dress? It has to go!

Celebrity Fresh

I'm sure you've all seen those candid shots of your favorite celebs out and about, shopping, having lunch etc. They always seem to look so effortlessly chic and fabulous right? Well, here's your guide to grab that bombshell look. The celebrity fresh look, that we all want to master.

(l to r: Beyonce, leaving TRL studios; Cassie, arriving at Beyonce's concert; Kelly Rowland, out and about)

Lets start off with the basic tee. All three of the beautiful ladies above are rocking the perfect tee, a major staple in the effortless look. Whether you choose to wear a vintage 80's tee, a plain white tee, or a shirt with your favorite team displayed on the front, make sure its fitted to your body so that you don't look as if you're swimming in it. You also want to avoid getting the shirt too small, some unwanted things may spill out, and that would be very uncomfortable I'm sure.

1. Cap Sleeve V-Neck T-Shirt; bella.com, $26.00
2. Ladies Hungry Hippos T-Shirt; Famous Forever from truffleshuffle.com, $24.99
3. Retro Sport Detroit Piston's Tee; 80spurple.com, $48.00

Something that all of the celebrity fresh stars seem to wear often, is the perfect skinny jean. Match up a dark wash with a light t-shirt, or a lighter wash with a darker tee. Rock the skinny jeans with a medium to skinny belt if you plan on wearing a cropped tee, like Miss Cassie... or if you plan on tucking your shirt in, like Miss Kelly.
1. Avedon Skinny Leg in Berlin; Citizens of Humanity, $193.00
2. Hulsey Strutters (Attica Blues Wash); Sass & Bide, $149.99
3. Hulsey Strutters (Cracked Galaxy Wash); Sass & Bide, $149.99

Perfect shoes are an absolute MUST for any outfit, but these fresh celebrities tend to lean towards heels when they're in jeans and a t-shirt, to dress their look up a bit. Try wearing a pair of metallic peep toes when you try to achieve this look. Check out the ones Cassie and Bee are wearing. If you're not sure what color to go with yet, why not try a black, patent leather heel?

1. Poppy Metallic Peep Toe; dillards.com, $69.00
2. Drew Point Toe Pumps in Gold; Mossimo from target.com, $22.49
3. Dysis Patent Pump w/ Stacked Heel; Mossimo from target.com, $29.99

As we all know, a celebrity fresh look would never be complete without a flash over sized bag! You can throw everything inside and just go. On top of that, they're very eye-catching and fabulous. I never leave home without mine.
1. Bridle Large Patent Bowling Bag; Maxx New York from kitson, $148.00
2. Beverly Cracked Leather Bag; net-a-porter.com, $980.00
3. Cannage Drawstring Medium Shoulder Bag; Dior, $1,290.00
Last but certainly not least, is the cherry on top...the unique jewelry. It's the little detail that makes these outfits pop. You may want to layer pieces like bracelets (try bangles) or necklaces (go for long and medium lengths). Always go for the unique pieces versus the ordinary ones you would find on anyone. Don't be afraid to be different! You don't want to wear jewelry that's too big though, maybe a larger pendant on a long necklace like Kelly. But don't let your accessories take over your outfit.
1. Gold Diamond 7 piece Bangle Set; kitson, $75.00
2. Leather Woven Chain; CC Skye from 80spurple.com, $200.00
3. Jasper Medallion Necklace; target.com, $12.74
4. Burnished Gold Tone Faux Jade Ring; target.com, $10.99
Extras:
*If you also want that flawless face that seems to glow, try an extra light foundation like Maybelline Pure Makeup, and top it off with Cover Girl TruBlend bronzer.
*For the perfect knit/crochet hat (see Kelly Rowland), my mother makes one of a kind creations from $20.00 that will compliment any outfit. Pic1 Pic2. Contact me for further details.
*To get that perfect, not too styled hair; try simply flat ironing your hair, or curling it loosely all over.
