Bombshell Reader Files: Purple Heart Party

One of my fabulous readers sent me this email:

Hey Miss Danielle,

I had to write you to let you know that I absolutely love your website/blogspot! You always stay up on posting the trendy fashions of today. I visit all the time to find out what's new out there in the fashion world. Keep up the good work! I also like how you find and post links on most of the fashions that are worn by the artists and actresses, so that everyday people can find the similar styles. I have a birthday party coming up and the theme is Purple Harts (my favorite color) so everyone at my party has to show up in an outfit that somehow correlates purple. My party is 3 weeks away and I myself have not found the perfect outfit to wear. I'm looking for a form fitting affordable sweater dress or any stylish yet not over the top cute purple outfit. Do you think you can help me out? I did find something that I liked while cruising the internet that Rihanna was wearing,
http://www.ultimate-rihanna.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=36 (minus the cleavage hanging out) but I have no idea on how to find that outfit or anything similar. So if you could help me out and bless me with some of your fashion sense I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Girl.

Loyal Visitor,
Nina D.

Well Miss Nina, I will do my best to help you pull together a wonderful birthday ensemble!

Style File: Christina Milian, Rihanna, and Ashanti

I'm loving Ashanti's look in this picture. The singer was hosting an event recently at Pure night club rocking a fabulous striped dress with red accessories. This whole look works for Ashanti, hair, makeup, accessories and all. Hopefully some new music will come along with her fab appearance.

Rihanna walked the red carpet recently, showing off a cute new cropped hair cut and a gorgeous gray, off the shoulder dress. This makes her look absolutely stunning and graceful, and I love the edgier new hair cut, it gives her look a little spunk. And I see her sporting the hot look of the spring, gladiator sandals. They mesh perfectly with her Grecian inspired dress.

The always beautiful Christina Milian was out in Miami looking effortlessly chic rocking a tan linen tube dress with pockets. Normally I hate dresses with pockets, but Christina manages to pull this look off completely without the pockets making her look frumpy and bloated. I'm even a fan of her choice of jewelry. I love the chunky necklace! Work it out Miss Milian!

Products I Live By

I've decided to show my very favorite products some love on this post. These are all the things I use every single day, that I don't think I could function without. As you'll notice, they're all pretty much your run of the mill drugstore items. I keep it simple at all times with my beauty regimen. I'll go through the makeup I can't live without in another post.

Oil of Olay body wash is the best for your buck, in my opinion. It's super luxurious and so moisture rich that it leaves me feeling soft all day long. Plus it smells really good, it's not over powering or perfume-y like some other body gels or washes.

CoverGirl Wet Slicks lip gloss in peaches and gleam. I never step outside of the house without this stuff on. It stays put pretty well and the smell is amazing...very hard not to lick my lips when I'm wearing it lol. Plus it's great for sensitive lips like mine, I'm sure I'm the only person allergic to aloe vera, so I'm thankful that its not in this gloss. If it were, my lips would swell and it would not be pretty. Ugh.

Good old cocoa butter! It's been around since before I can remember, and it's tried and true. It keeps me smooth in the summer and protected in the winter. I always put it on before bed so I can wake up extra soft. It works wonders on the heels of my feet and my knees and elbows.

This stuff is a godsend! I love Cetaphil! Once I started cleaning my face with this stuff it cleared my problem areas right up...within days actually. It's very gentle, it has no fragrance, nothing to strip your skin of its natural emollients, and it's so easy to use. You can use it with or without water, twice a day and you're on your way to clearer skin, I promise.

When I'm just lounging around the house and my lips get dry, I don't reach for my CoverGirl...shoot, I have no one to impress in the house. So I use Carmex all throughout the day when I'm home. It's wonderful. Though the smell is a little much, and very much medicine-y, it makes my lips feel extra soft and kissable. I usually like to put this stuff on before bed as well, you wake up with lovely, soft lips.

Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner has saved my curls from a life of unruly frizz. I slap a handful (yes a handful, I have extremely thick hair) of this stuff on after spritzing my hair with a little water, and my curls look like I've just washed them. It moisturizes your hair like crazy and it pretty much keeps it looking tame all day. Now, I don't know how it works on straightened hair, but as I've said for my girls with curls, definitely try this product. You can't beat it for about 4 bucks from Target.

Pond's Clean Sweep makeup removing towelettes are so convenient! I love them to death, especially right after I work out and sweat (yuck). These things clean your face and leave you feeling like you've just washed with cleanser and water. They have a nice light scent and they don't irritate my skin in the least. I use them everyday, I actually need to buy some more...

Lisa's Hair Elixir by Carol's Daughter. I think this is the only think you wont find at a Wal-Mart, Target or drugstore. You have to order some though! It also works wonders on my curls, which tend to dry out and look like awful hell on some days. It's like giving my dry scalp/hair a drink of water. It's not heavy, it smells great and it seems to make my curls grow like crazy. Some of you may find the smell a bit strong, but I like it. There's no mineral oil in it either! Yay! I avoid mineral oil in my hair care products at all costs. It's extra heavy and can clog your pores. That's a big no-no.

Okay, so now you know some of the products I use on a day to day. See, nothing too complicated! I'd love to hear from anyone else who wants to share the products they can't live without. Mainly because I always love trying out new things lol.

Stay beautiful ladies!

Oh No Honey: Shar Jackson

Okay, I don't have too much of an issue with the dress itself...but I do have an issue with it not fitting Shar the way it's supposed to. Would it really have been that hard to get it tailored? Come on now... And the shoes? Not at all. Someone please get this child a stylist ASAP. Everything is just...off with this look. I'm not loving anything about it. Try again Shar.

Bombshell Look: Christina Milian

Try This: Mixing Prints

This spring is certainly no time for timid, shy ensembles. Dries Van Noten and D&G have made that very clear by throwing caution to the wind and mixing bold prints together. I'm always for being bold and fearless, and if you are too then you can't afford not to at least try print mixing once.
Try bold colors and floral prints for starters. Or you could go with a mixed print dress and a bold colored belt or blazer! I love how versatile this trend is, and how just about anything goes. I chose not to show you my picks because you'd have much more fun picking your own patterns and prints to mix and match. But please do check out these runway shots from Dries Van Noten and D&G for their spring 2008 collections.

You've been covering those legs up all winter long! Time to break out your "lady razor", Skintimate gel, and cuffed shorts. They're one of the hot trends for spring 08. 4. Linen Seamed Pocket Cuff Shorts; bebe.com, $69.00

After a season of gray, rock star black, deep blues and such, it's time for a splash of color. This spring will certainly give us that needed splash with color block tops and dresses, bold prints, wrapped up with flashy hues to give our eyes a much needed treat.

New Schedule

This past week I've had to juggle a few different things, and incorporate them into my schedule and everything has been all wacky because of it. So I do apologize for the lack of posts, but I'm trying to smooth this new schedule out right now. It still has some kinks in it. You know I always come back to you guys though :)

I've Been Tagged!

Yay! I'm so late, and such a lame that I had no idea what being tagged meant, until recently. Yes, yes make fun of me later lol. Thanks to LoLo's Cube for the tag! So here are the rules to what I like to call the tag game:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Well, let the games begin!

There's a shot of me from yesterday :) Look at how my hair has grown since my profile pic was taken!

1. I'm in love with Barack Obama, not just because I think he's fine...but because I think he can change the world.
2. I have OCD, seriously.
3. I have 3 tattoos, I'm about to make it 4 though.
4. I am proudly an only child, I have the issues to prove it.
5. I'm afraid of driving. Other drivers scare the crap out of me.
6. Surprisingly enough, I love going against the trends.
7. I'm one of the shyest people you'll probably ever meet.

On to the tagging!

Style File: New Years Eve Edition

Let's take a look at what celebs chose to wear to ring in the new year. You know your opinion is always wanted and appreciated.

Jennifer Hudson at Setai in Miami wearing a hot, white pencil dress and a matching jacket. I'm not mad at Miss Hudson. I love this on her, it makes her glow. Not too sure about her shoe situation though. Everything else is on point, hair is cute and trendy, makeup is flawless, and her accessories are perfect.

Kelis rang in 2008 with hubby Nas (not pictured) at Tao with the diva herself Mariah Carey. As far as my best dressed goes, I'm going to have to give it to Kelis. Her dress is fly! The yellow looks beautiful on her brown skin and it fits her perfectly. I also love the feather detail, and her hair and makeup are both on point.

Mary J. Blige was over at MTV for the new year. I'm not so sure I'm feeling this get up. I'm confused by it...absolutely. But she always gets points for flawless makeup. I wont get on the tired blond wig right now. I still love me some Mary though! She tried.

Chrsitina Milian is absolutely killing everyone in the room with this Herve Leger! That's all that really needs to be said lol. She looks beautiful, nice choice of dress Leger's have been very popular this year and yet I believe she's the only one I spotted rocking it on New Years.
I'm not feeling Eve's dress too much. It's just blah for me. Oh, and I'm completely ignoring Ashley Simpson over there on the side. At first glance I didn't even recognize her.

Guess Who

Our first guess who of the year! Guess what budding bombshell was spotted at a new year's eve bash.

Check Her Out: Kesh

The new year calls for new things, so randomly I'll be adding new little features that interest me and that I hope will interest you as well. Check This Out will be a feature strictly about the things that have caught my eye recently. I come across a lot of fly things during my internet surfing and searching, and I would be selfish not to share them! So I decided to start off with one of my fashion idols...

If you're one of the millions of people who have Myspace, then you should already know about this brown bombshell out of London named, Kesh. You should be even more familiar with her if you're a fashionista on Myspace. This 21 year old designer puts her own colorful and imaginative spin on track suits, hoodies and even dresses...but more importantly and probably more common are her fun t-shirts which are called "Keshirts". Cute right? These shirts include very unique designs that are sure to get you noticed. I'm all for clothing that's one of a kind, especially with everyone following the same trends without a shred of originality. Kesh is bubbling over with originality though, she makes her own clothes, and makes her own style, which is what being a bombshell is all about. She's certain to be the next big thing, you should definitely check her out.

Check out Kanye West rocking a Keshirt...

Rapper Lupe Fiasco wears Keshirts as well.
